Ox in the Wetland

In Ermakov Island, the Ukrainian part of the Danube Delta.
An ancient, large herbivorous mammal from the past crosses a river shore while chewing a cud.
A feral Water Buffalo, a close living relative of the extinct European Water Buffalo from the Great Ice Age, popularly known as the Pleistocene. It is also part of the last water buffaloes to exist in Eastern Europe, which were nearly wiped out by communism during the time of the Soviet Union and obscurity.

Thankfully, the water buffalo now serves a new role as the wetland's landscape engineer to restore the biodiversity and the natural ecosystem of the Danube Delta as a proxy of the European Water Buffalo.

This clip was animated with Ox by Truong CG Artist in Maya.
The animation is part of my assignment module on Animals & Creatures during my postgraduate study in 3D animation at Escape Studios.
